One of the few active Greek churches. In Kadikoy, Asia. There were a few hundred thousand Greeks in the City at the start of last century. Since then, Greeks left in 3 main waves. 1922 after Turkish independence. After anti-Greek (and anti-Armenian and anti-Jewish) riots in 1955. And after more anti-Greek stuff in the 1960s related to Cyprus. There are about 2,000 to 3,000 Greeks left in the City. And no kids. So 2,500 continuous years of Greeks in Byzantium/Constantinoupoli/Istanbul is about to come to an end. Kind of sad.
